On the Treadmill

Back I went today for my Stress Test with Ultrasound……and I ran (or at least walked very quickly) a Personal Best….I went a full 15 seconds longer than last time….What a champion!!!!!!  Last time I did nine minutes.  I know it doesn’t sound like a long time and it would have been much easier if they hadn’t kept speeding up the treadmill and making the incline steeper (but that probably would defeat the purpose of the test – which I am sure is to initiate heart attacks and drum up business!!!!)

I still have to go back to the specialist on Thursday for official confirmation but apparently it all looks good!!

After that, Ron and I are planning another short escape. We haven’t decided exactly where or how long yet.

Nary a Nibble

Yet another Open House has come and gone with nary so much as a nibble…..by which I mean no-one bought it on the spot……we did have a few lookers…..looks like we may have to rethink the price but that of course changes options….will sleep on it and stress about it again tomorrow, very apt since tomorrow is Stress Test day!!!

For those of you who don’t know, I am currently on the medical merry-go-round. In an attempt to discover the cause of pains I have had in my chest and arms, I have been eliminating all sorts of nasties by having blood tests, x-rays and ultra sounds (all good so far).  I recently had a stress test which proved inconclusive and so I have to have another one tomorrow then off to the heart specialist on Thursday. I’m betting all will be well  - will keep you posted.

Voting and Posting

Off we went, through rain and weather too inclement to begin to describe in order to cast our vote and change the council!!!! (and of course to buy a sausage sizzle and a cake from the cake stall) Alas and alack the cake stall had sold out but we did manage a sausage on bread (Yummo) and we will find out later if our vote counted!

I also went to visit Liz today……..She is selling her TV cabinet and we were working out the ad for Ebay and Gumtree…….Of course it all got too hard and I took everything home for Ron to do because he is sooooooo clever with computer stuff.

I checked out on her computer how to Post a Comment……..It appears that it is quite easy to use Name/URL in the drop down menu……..so I am amending my previous recommendations (which appeared on  Penny Gets Wet, Ron Loses His Curls) to include that option……

Battling On

I had a dental appointment today at 1:00pm and arrived promptly at 12:45 (having been raised by a mother who considered anything less than 15 minutes early was running late) only to be informed that my appointment was for 1:30 and the dentist was at lunch. I spent my time constructively reading my book and was eventually seen and informed that everything was fine!  Afterwards, armed with all manner of goodies including the now mandatory vanilla choc top ice cream cone, Ron and I sallied forth to the nearby cinema in order to take in a movie.

We went to see ‘Battleship’, the movie with the American Navy (this time) saving the world from annihilation by aliens.  What can I say? I quite like mindless action movies and this is incredibly mind numbingly mindless (but in a pleasant kind of way).  If you go with really low expectations as I did, you will not be disappointed. Indeed, if you are willing to ignore common sense, logic and a real plot and want to see lots of things blow up then this could be the movie for you!!!!!  It is supposedly based on ‘Battleship’ the board game (I remember the low tech version with pencil and paper) and I found it a real stretch to find any similarities except for the name and one scene where they used grid references when fighting the aliens. There are a few laughs to be had (mainly at the absurdity of the plot line which is so corny it defies belief) and the characters are at best one dimensional.  Incredibly, although it was an action movie and there was the inevitable blowing up of all manner of things (and people) there was a noticeable lack of blood and guts and gore and there was no bad language (not even a bloody, let alone any four letter expletives) – quite refreshing!!!!
To give it a one star rating would be exceedingly generous!!!

Anzac Day

Always a special day……
I actually took this photo at the Brisbane March a few years ago but I
like it so I'm recycling it!......

We spent the morning at home and in the afternoon I went to visit Christina and deliver her red and black dragon……he will certainly have a good home there……She has almost decided to call him ‘Tink’.  We had a lovely catch up. Always lots of fun with Christina. She felt so sorry for Ron, now that he has no curls that she sent home her 'Hippy' wig for him......cute!!!!   (Actually he had hair almost that long when I first met him - not quite that style and colour though!!!!)

Yoga and Felt Flowers.

Off I went to Yoga this morning…..and after much perseverance, I am now even closer to being able to stick my left toe in my right ear.  My Yoga teacher, Gay is just wonderful and I love my Yoga but truth be known, I really go for the relaxation afterwards…….sooooooooo good!!!!!

This afternoon my friend Linda and I went to make Felt Flowers with Margaret……..She is a wonderful  teacher too and I made the loveliest flower  in various shades of pink and purple…….Linda’s flower was in shades of purple and green and she used it as an embellishment on a scarf she had previously made – absolutely beautiful!

I plan to do some more felting and will post photos shortly…..watch this space!!!!!

Penny Gets Wet, Ron Loses His Curls

This morning it was off to Aqua Aerobics……Trish and I have been going for a while now but I haven’t been for a couple of weeks and we had a new (to me) instructor…..While most instructors lead the class in the water, this one chose to demonstrate from the edge of the pool…..lovely lady, incredibly fit (unlike we poor old dears thrashing about like wallowing hippos) What is it with these people? She leaped about all over the place AND did not even have the good grace to sound puffed out as she yelled instructions, let alone raise a sweat!!!!

Ronnie had me cut his hair this afternoon. I said it made him look mean now that all his curls are gone so he struck an appropriate pose for the camera!

Finally, after pleas to my legion of fans to use names instead of ‘Anonymous’, I have received a request on how to put your name into the comments section.
The easiest way is to sign in as Anonymous but put your name in with the comment (as part of it)
or
Sign up for a Google Account in the drop down menu next to where it says ‘Comment as:’ . The Google Account is free. Just follow the prompts.

Dragons' Lair

To my dedicated band of followers, deepest apologies for not posting yesterday……..

I don’t really have much today either……

We had1 looker yesterday and none today at our open house L but it has only been a week. Ronnie looks like he is about to trip over his bottom lip and I’m not much better.

On a happier note J I thought I would show off my new dragons. I just took the photos this morning. They are my latest commissioned works……the black one for my friend and the pink one to be raffled at ‘The World’s Biggest Morning Tea’ for breast cancer research on the 10th May.

Home Again, Home Again

The Dam Wall

After yet another delicious breaky, we packed up and headed back towards home. We stopped at Bjelke-Petersen Dam for a leisurely morning tea.

It was very pretty and there was lots of bird life.

A Cormorant Drying His Wings

Then an uneventful drive home with a quick stop at Brisbane R.V.’s to check out motor homes…..still looking!!!
We arrived home about 5:30 having encountered our first drops of rain well south of the Gateway Bridge. We had absolutely fabulous weather all the time we were away.

So another happy camping trip draws to a close…..now back to reality..........
I watched "Packed to the Rafters" tonight (Ron taped it while we were away) and I noticed that Jules has started a Blog as well....is this another example of life imitating art or am I just a trend setter?

We now have to get ready for our  first Open House with our new Real Estate Agent, Helen tomorrow as well - fingers crossed……..

Camping Continues

Later we wandered around the camping area while dinner cooked.

Then came the great unveiling…...

Yummmo!!!!!!  Haute Cuisine a la Ronnie!!!!

We are talking Michelin Star here….it was a Baked Dinner to die for…….it melted in the mouth.

We arose this morning and enjoyed a Weight Watchers breakfast (i.e. we watched the weight go on) of bacon and eggs and then more bacon.

Armed with a map, Fran and I went off for another bush walk and Fran stopped dead as a snake slid across in front of her. Since she said it was a baby, I looked for something about 30cm or less….IT WAS A METRE LONG!!!!!!!!  I would have included a photo but between the speed of the snake and my trembling hands, there was no chance of that happening!

Back at camp, Ron had whipped up a delicious batch of scones.

Another relaxing afternoon with Fran doing her Sudoko, me crocheting my bed socks (to be used in cooler weather) and Ron and Bob sleeping and reading.

We went and saw the birds being fed this afternoon and then another sumptuous feast – corned beef and veg cooked in the Camp Oven!

Sadly tomorrow we have to head off home.

Barambah Bush Camp

We very nearly didn’t come……It was pouring rain on Monday night and the forecast was miserable at best…..so we cancelled.

Then we got all depressed and decided to risk it and rebooked and  ….wow!

It is blue skies, sunshine and T shirts all the way!

We arrived yesterday afternoon and set up camp. We gathered wood, Ron cooked a splendid BBQ and Fran and Bob and I ate it…..a fair division of labour I think!!!!

Actually Bob and Fran provided delicious nibblies and salads but you can’t let details cloud a good story!!!
Bob and Fran and I on our walk

It was great sitting round the camp fire.
The campsite is lovely and after a good sleep we went for a wander out the back this morning and after lunch, Ron and Bob started on the fire for tonight’s feast. Ronnie has bought a Camp Oven so we are doing a roast dinner.....

More soon

Captain's Log...Stardate 15th April 2012

Hi Hi
This is my first post....
We are heading north to Kingaroy on Tuesday to camp with friends, Bob and Fran.....
Hopefully it will be our last camp before we trade our Real Estate for Wheel Estate and head off into the wild blue yonder...

My intention is to Blog on a regular basis, keep you up to date with our voyages, regale  you all with tall tales and true of our legendary adventures and generally make you all jealous with just the click of a mouse!!!!!
I will also include pictures!!!!

2012  is The Year of the Dragon, which apparently signifies great change...
this is a dragon I knitted and sold to a lady in my Yoga Class....He is pictured here next to flowers that Ron bought for me....proof positive that Dragons signify change!!!!!!
