Bus Day

Today’s the day and it’s raining *!@%$(^!

We caught the train up to The Motorhome Conversion Co at Slacks Creek and spent the next two hours checking the ins and outs of our new home! It is soooooooo beautiful. They gave us a gift pack with a water bottle, hat, step, hose fittings, grey water hose, fresh water hose, a Garmin navigator and most importantly a bottle of bubbly!!!!  We practiced putting an awning up and down (not ours because of the rain) but we are assured ours works the same way and they explained batteries and solar power and our heads are still spinning at 8.00pm this evening.  I have no photos because of the rain but there will be plenty when the sun comes out!!!!!

Ron manoeuvred his way out of the place and we battled the elements (and the traffic) up the highway to Carina and picked up a Solar Screen to help keep the heat and light out and then we drove home and looked longingly at our bus in the driveway hoping the rain subsides to tempest strength shortly so we can go and play!!!!

Stay tuned………

Three Sleeps!!!!!

Yep…..only three sleeps till we get our beautiful Big Blue Bus!! It is getting real now.

Sorry for being so remiss with postings but it has been a bit busy. Last weekend was our garage sale and we got rid of most everything. Then it was several trips to ‘Vinnies’ to get rid of the left overs and the dump for the totally unusable. Last Wednesday was the doctor and the optometrist and boy have I picked out the flashest glasses – Dame Edna eat your heart out!!! Even Ron has gone for Giorgio Armani frames this time!!! We are out of control!

We went and saw ‘Men in Black III’ last week as well….can’t let the cultural pursuits slip. It was good fun…exactly what we expected….

Looking for bargains….in outer space!!!!!

Ron and I have been out and about this week with a trip to Brisie for The Caravan and Camping Show…..a bit of a fizzer really….we were all excited now that we are actually Motor Homers but it was just the same-oh, same-oh……not even a good enough special on the Webber Q bar-b-que to tempt Ronnie!!!!!

So today it was off to the movies to see PROMETHEUS ……not bad…..in fact very good. The visuals were pretty spectacular even though we did not see it in 3D and the best characters for me were David, the android who models himself on Peter O’Tooles characterisation of Lawrence of Arabia and Elizabeth Shaw (the missionary’s daughter). The others were good too but they shone. PROMETHEUS, in short is about a mission to space to discover what may be the origin of the human race. This mission doesn’t find what’s expected, and instead discovers something that could destroy life as we know it. It asks the big questions of God or Aliens creating humans but the main message I took from it was never trust a quietly spoken android (shades of Hal from 2001 A Space Odyssey).

Arlo’s Gone- A – Roving

Arlo has run away with two lovely English Back Packers, Hannah and Kelly.  He left home this afternoon with the promise of more life on the highways and byways.  We put him up on Gumtree and were inundated (five enquiries in four hours).  I was of course mortified when one prospective buyer wanted to load him up, attach a trailer and have him haul goods out west……I mean, please……Arlo is not meant for a life in shackles.  He is a gypsy, a free spirit!!!!

So my sadness at his leaving is tempered by the happiness I feel knowing that he is off north to Cairns shortly. After his trip with us into the middle of Aus he will now be taking a break along the Queensland coast, soaking up some rays and idling his days away by the seaside. And we sold him for only $400 less than we paid!!!! He really is a treasure!!!!

I have also included here some photos of our new home. They are fairly ordinary as they were taken at the rear car park of the painter’s workshop. They do show off his lovely blue colour and while the décor is early laminex (particularly in the bathroom), we love the timber fixtures and fittings. I even went out today and bought two mattress toppers……it’s all happening!!! Settlement is now 6thJuly (ten days earlier). He has lots of solar power and batteries and quite a roomy fridge. I love the patterned seat covers and he is lovely and light with the curtains opened (I think the full length mirrored door on the shower makes him feel bigger as well).
